ある人が静謐な空気感を放っている。その空気感はどこからきているのか。
私はそれを確かめるように彫刻をしてきた。
ある「人」を彫刻する時、常に「服」の存在が伴う。社会においても「人」と「服」は対であり、「服」が「人」の印象や空気感に及ぼす影響はあまりに大きい。
「服」は形や色によって、人や場の空気感を変えてしまう。そして「服」は、環境から身体を保護するための道具でありながら、自身の意思や役割を示すコミュニケーションの手段でもある。
つまり「服」は、「人」が場という空間の中で、精神と肉体をコントロールするための道具とも言える。
しかし、ここで言う「服」の空気感とは、機能性や装飾性が孕む、道具や製品としての空気感ではない。
私が「服」から捉えている空気感は、この世界のどこからか、何らかの意志を漂わせ、社会や概念といった境界を越え、空間からある人へと流れ着く何かである。
あるいは、ある人の無意識の意志が呼び寄せている何かである。
ある「人」と空間の媒介である「服」に内包された意志に、他者が交わることで、形や色のない空気感がどこからやって来るのか、またそれが何であるのかを、ゆっくりと確かめる。

A certain person emits a quiet, serene atmosphere. Where does this atmosphere come from?
I have been sculpting as if to trace and verify this.
When sculpting a “person,” the presence of “clothing” is always involved. In society as well, “person” and “clothing” exist as a pair, and the influence that “clothing” has on a person’s impression and atmosphere is immense.
Through its form and color, clothing can alter the atmosphere of both a person and a place. At the same time, while clothing functions as a tool to protect the body from the environment, it also serves as a means of communication that expresses one’s will and role.
In this sense, clothing can be understood as a tool through which a person regulates both mind and body within a given space.
However, the “atmosphere” of clothing referred to here is not that of an object or product derived from its functionality or ornamentation.
The atmosphere I perceive in clothing is something that drifts from somewhere in this world, carrying a certain kind of intention, crossing the boundaries of society and concepts, and arriving through space to a particular person.
Or perhaps it is something summoned by the unconscious will of that person.
When others engage with the will embedded in clothing—this mediator between a person and space—we slowly begin to trace where this formless, colorless atmosphere comes from, and what it is.
